Southeastern Senegal is a remarkable area where the Bassari, Bedik and Fula people live and work in harmony with the land as they have for centuries. This unique traditional region is a UNESCO World Heritage Site described as “… a well-preserved multicultural landscape housing original and still vibrant local cultures.”
Buckle up for a scenic drive from Dakar to the Southeastern region of Senegal where you will experience long standing cultures with a sustainable relationship to their environment still intact.
Visit the Bassari traditional area and witness sustainable rice farming practices. Visit the Bedik village with their signature thatched roof homes.
This tour includes half day at the majestic Dindefelo Falls with its 100 meter drop, where you can swim and make lifelong memories. Other activities include a bush walk, and a trip to the forest.
The Niokolo-Koba National Park – another UNESCO World Heritage Site is a major conservation success story for Senegal. After being on the UNESCO endangered sites list for almost 2 decades, it was removed in 2024 due to the commitment and efforts of Senegal and environmental partners. Rich in African wildlife and biodiversity, this park is a must on any visit to Southeastern Senegal.
