At SHIMA Travel Tours, we are committed to providing transparent, reliable, and authentic travel experiences across Senegal and The Gambia.
These Terms & Conditions apply to tours and travel services operated by SHIMA Travel Tours across Senegal and The Gambia. By confirming a booking with us, you (“the Client”) agree to the following Terms & Conditions.

1. Scope of Services

SHIMA Travel Tours provides:

  • Private guided tours and curated day trips
  • Airport transfers and local taxi services within the Dakar region
  • Personalized travel planning and hotel recommendations

(Note: We only connect travelers with accommodation providers. SHIMA Travel Tours does not process hotel payments or manage hotel reservations.)


💳 2. Bookings & Payments

SHIMA Travel Tours requires a deposit to confirm all bookings, with terms that vary depending on where the client is located and where the tour begins.

SHIMA Travel Tours accepts payments via wire transfer, local mobile money, or approved digital payment platforms.
Debit and credit card payments are not accepted at this time.

Price Validity

All quoted prices are valid for 30 days from the date the itinerary is accepted in writing via email or WhatsApp.
Prices may be revised after this period. Booking deposits must be received within the validity window to secure the quoted rate.

2.1 Clients Abroad – Tours Originating Outside Dakar

A 40% deposit is required to secure the booking. Wire transfers must be initiated at least 7–10 days before the tour date and received at least 5 days prior to the tour.
Bookings made less than 7 days before the tour start date, require deposit payments by local mobile money or approved digital payment platforms (no wire transfers due to time constraints). The remaining balance is due at least 24 hours before the tour begins.

2.2 Clients Abroad – Tours Originating in Dakar

A 40% deposit is required to confirm. Wire transfers must be received at least 5 days prior to the tour start date.
Bookings made less than 7 days before the tour start date require deposit payments by cash or mobile money, and the balance is due at least 24 hours before departure.

2.3 Clients Already in Dakar – Local Bookings for Travel in and around Dakar:

  • Cash Deposits: A 50% deposit is required with confirmation of the booking but NO LATER THAN at the time of pick up for the tour and BEFORE the tour departs. The 50% deposit at pickup time is payable in cash only.
  • Local Mobile Money Deposits: Clients wishing to secure the booking via a 50% local mobile money deposit or must ensure that the mobile money transfer is completed and received by SHIMA Travel Tours at least one hour before the tour begins. Deposits not received at least one hour before the tour starts will be considered as cancellations.
  • In these cases outlined above, the 50% balance may ONLY be paid in cash at the end of the tour. We accept tour balances in CFA, Euros, Pounds Sterling, or USD. Clients who anticipate being unable to pay the 50% balance in cash at the end of the tour MUST pay the full amount by cash or mobile money at the start of the tour. No mobile transfers are allowed for the balance at the end of the tour.

Fees: All financial institution transaction or processing fees are the traveler’s responsibility.

📅 3. Cancellations & Refunds

Cancellation terms vary according to the notice period prior to the tour start date.
Refunds apply to deposits only and exclude all transaction fees.

  • More than 7 days before start:
    Refund of the deposit minus a 15% administrative fee.
  • 7 to 5 days before start:
    Refund of the deposit minus a 20% administrative fee.
  • Less than 5 days before start or no-show:
    No refund, as all logistics and local costs are confirmed at that point.

Eligible refunds are issued based on the original payment method:
– Mobile money: 5–10 business days
– Wire transfer: 10–15 business days
– Cash refunds, when applicable, may be issued in cash or another mutually agreed form.

🚗 4. Airport Transfers & Local Taxi Services

These services may be booked in advance or on demand.
Payment is made at the point of service (POS) in cash or via local mobile money.
No prepayment or deposit is required, and cancellations incur no penalty.


🧭 5. Itinerary Flexibility

Tour itineraries may occasionally change due to weather, road conditions, or operational requirements.
SHIMA Travel Tours reserves the right to make reasonable adjustments in the client’s best interest.


6. Cancellations by SHIMA Travel Tours

If SHIMA Travel Tours must cancel a tour due to weather, safety concerns, or unforeseen circumstances, clients may choose between:

  • A full refund, or
  • A credit toward a future trip of equal value.

We always communicate promptly and aim to provide the most flexible solutions possible.


🌿 7. Client Responsibilities

Travelers must:

  • Provide accurate booking information
  • Hold valid travel documents and insurance
  • Comply with local laws and guide instructions
  • Arrive on time for scheduled tours or pickups

SHIMA Travel Tours reserves the right to discontinue service in cases of unsafe or disruptive behavior.


🩺 8. Health, Safety & Insurance

Travelers are responsible for ensuring they are medically fit for travel.
We strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance covering:

  • Medical emergencies
  • Trip cancellations or interruptions
  • Lost or delayed baggage

SHIMA Travel Tours is not liable for personal injuries, medical expenses, or property loss during the trip.


⚖️ 9. Liability

SHIMA Travel Tours acts solely as an intermediary between travelers and service providers.
We are not liable for losses, injuries, delays, or damages caused by third parties, weather, or force majeure events.
Our total liability is limited to the value of services purchased directly from SHIMA Travel Tours.


🔐 10. Privacy

We value your privacy. Personal data collected during booking is used only to manage reservations, process payments, and comply with legal or operational requirements.
We do not share or sell personal information beyond what is necessary to deliver our services.


📜 11. Governing Law

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of the Republic of Senegal.
Any disputes shall be resolved amicably or, if necessary, through recognized local arbitration.
